The Tufnol Whale Plastic Sheet 15mm Thick is a high-strength engineering material made from SRBF (Synthetic Resin Bonded Fabric), perfect for demanding home DIY and mechanical projects. This sheet is designed for excellent mechanical performance, heat resistance, and durability — trusted by hobbyists, engineers, and home users across the UK.
With a density of 1.36 g/cm³, this cotton-reinforced phenolic laminate provides excellent structural integrity. Its tensile strength of 68 MPa, cross-breaking strength of 130 MPa, and compressive strength (flatwise) of 310 MPa (edgewise: 200 MPa) make it ideal for creating jigs, bushes, spacers, tool mounts, and more. Thanks to its rigidity and low deformation, it’s commonly used in workshops where repeat loads and accuracy matter.
Thermal stability is another strong suit. The sheet handles 120°C continuous and 130°C intermittent temperatures with a specific heat capacity of 1.5 kJ/kgK, ensuring safe and reliable use in environments exposed to heat or friction.
This 15mm Tufnol Whale sheet can be easily machined, drilled, or cut using standard workshop tools. Its low moisture absorption and electrical insulation properties make it especially useful for low-voltage enclosures or back plates.
Q: Can I use this for mechanical home repairs?
Yes it's strong and stable enough for structural components.
Q: Will it hold up to heat?
Definitely. It resists heat up to 130°C and performs well under friction.
